Any idea were these are supposed to go?
« on: August 06, 2023, 09:33:07 AM »
I was stripping the motor away from the frame basically in the dark. Found these laying randomly. My only guess is between the frame and the motor?

Is this correct?

Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

Yes. Those are frame mounting shims. #5 in this diagram:

Thank you. I assume only one? Because I have 2 laying around.  Wish I would have taken photos and not in the dark

Here's the frame mounting page from the BMW manual. It doesn't say which method for a K75RT but since all models of the K75 have the same frame the one that I boxed in red is the right way to do it.

Lossely install 1, 2 and 4.
Torque 1 & 2.
Shim 3. Install and torque 3.
Install 5.
Torque 4 & 5.

RT and RS models of the K100 have the same frame as the naked K100 also, but their frames have rubber bushings mounted in the front frame holes because they have fairings and that seems to alter the tightening and shimming sequence from the K100 naked and from the tank mounted RT and RS. Likewise, the K75RT has the rubber bushings, the other models don't so although B's Brick is naked, if it has those bushings it could benefit from the plug-mounted K100 RT and RS tightening and shimming sequence.
