K75RT Fuel Tank Removal
« on: April 17, 2020, 02:07:48 PM »
Flushing/changing the coolant, need access, so removing the fuel tank to get to rad cap.

My two other K75's were both standard models, so no fairing.  I removed the fuel tank, easily, several times.  But the RT's a bit more complicated.  I can't see the lines on the left corner, because of the fairing I can't get to the side as I could on the standard, and not sure how I can pull up/back the tank to disconnect them without pulling them loose.

I'd appreciate info from RT owners.

Remove the seat and battery covers.

Unplug the four pin tank connector.

Remove the left "knee pad".

Pull the C clips at the rear of the tank.

Slide the tank back as far as it will go without forcing it.

Unscrew the hose connectors and pull the hoses off.

Tank should come off.

Note:  On my K75RT, I can access the coolant filler just by sliding the tank back.  I don't even need to remove the "knee pads".

Thanks for the reply Gryph.  I was hoping to just slide it back enough to do the job, wasn’t sure the lines were long enough.
