K100/k1100 -16 valve airbox removal

Hello folks!
From my understanding its possible to remove the airbox on the 16 valve engines as it just have a air temperature sensor. What about the whole crankcase thingy in the airbox? Just to plug or what?

Yes, theres a accumulator inside the airbox.

That circular object inside the 16V air box in your photo is called an oil separator, not an accumulator. It reduces the amount of blow-by oil vapor in the crankcase entering the intake air stream thereby reducing carbon buildup in the combustion chambers. Its function should be accommodated to promote engine efficiency when modifying the moto. The stock system does not have a pvc valve.

In other words it's a way of reducing the effect of stupidly running the crankcase breather into the air intake of the engine just to satisfy the EPA.
