Hello fellow Brickheadz

Any of you guys (and gals???) tried the Eastern Beaver H4 Headlight Relay kit?

I like to ride at night and large critters also like to wonder around on the road at that time. Almost hit a huge bull elk a couple of months ago and last night came close to hitting a wild donkey...plenty of them around here. So far I've been lucky. Just installed a supposedly 4000 lumen led headlight which is junk, not bright at all and don't like the bluish light otput. Not ready for prime time.

Well, the relay + the larger gauge wire harness is supposed to make your run-of-the-mill h4 halogen quite a bit brighter and will also allow a higher wattage bulb, if wanted, without frying the wires (like I did with my R90 a few years ago).

Anyone out there with experience with one of these kits want to chime in?

I put one in my K75 when I first got it. It works great.  It takes the current load off of the headlight switch which gets built up with carbon deposits over the years of use.

I have a question for anybody,,, What happens to the present h4 plug (it goes into the back of the H4 bulb) when I install the EB harness? Can someone explain this?

I am totally illiterate when it comes to all things electric.          :dunno

It's a plug an play harness, One end goes one your plug the other onto your headlight an magic happens

All three of my bricks have the Eastern Beaver relay kit.  After I put it on the first bike it became a must have on the other two.  Throws a shitload of light downrange, and won't burn the expensive handlebar switches.  Helps spot deer lurking in roadside brush.  Along with my 10W LED driving lights I can easily see out beyond my stopping distance at night up to well over 70mph.

Down side is that headlight bulbs only last about two years or 20,000 miles.  Headlight bulb replacement is now a semi-annual maintenance item and I don't use the cheap Chinese bulbs.  No unexpected burnouts now.

Hi all:
I looked at the Eastern Beaver site, and I still do not understand why the need to cut and splice any wires. In any case, I would be interested in installing a kit like this on my bike. Can anyone reply with the specific kit that will work on a K75S?


Interestingly, my old R75/6 has a relay!

You want the "H4 Single ‘In Fairing’ Kit" with the H4 coupler and the fuseholder with battery connection.

great kits, high quality and not hard to install.

i use a 100/55w bulb with mine.  the 55w low beam does not piss off oncoming cars and does not seem to burn out as fast as higher watt bulbs.  when i want high beam, the 100w is nice.

Interestingly, I just got my 1995 KLT from a friend, and it came with a Cycle Gear LED headlamp with high beam only, no low beam. Researched it and found the Eastern Beaver solution - turns out I had a double H4 setup from my ST1300 - put that on, and I know have Hi/Lo!!!  Very impressive LED output!

BeemerDon, Yes, that is the kit I put on my k75S.  Basically plug-n-play.  Once you get the left side of the fairing and the tank off, you can do the install in about 15 minutes.

If you're going for a higher wattage halogen bulb than 55/60, purchase a ceramic H4 base and graft that into the Eastern Beaver kit.  The standard plastic one might melt from the trapped heat in the enclosed space.  I believe EB offers these; otherwise ceramic bases are a common part at aftermarket automotive parts stores.

Took the suggestions of folks in this forum and got the Easter Beaver on last summer. Made a world of difference.

Eastern Beaver's great, I used his kit in my K.

Also good is the Matchbox relay -- I installed one in my vintage Yamaha:
