I finally took delivery of her today so I'm officially a K100RS owner 30 years after my first ride on one  .

It took a week to fix the odometer which wasn't working and 28.1 kms from the shop it stopped again :bang-head:  so they're sending me another one. You can see this time the trip meter knob has tried to escape from the speedo housing :hehehe so I'm guessing when they fixed it it wasn't put back together correctly.

When the new one gets here I'll pull the original one apart and see if I can fix it as they have just put all new cogs in it. According to the last registration papers the kms are genuine ( 33,900 kms ) so I would like to keep that on on the bike. If I remember I'll take photos when I do it and post them up.

  Cheers

I just discovered something interesting on my "new" rear tyre that was supplied with the bike.

It's a Michelin Macadam 50 which I believe hasn't been produced in over 10 years. If I'm reading it right this is an 11 years old " new" tyre they've put on.

I had two of those on my Brick twenty years ago, and hated them. They were unpredictable every so often the back end would break away on different corners. A mate tried the bike and had the same problem, and told me to get Avons. Once I changed tyres the problem went, I am now back on Michelin Pilots and like them. No way known would I be riding on the tyres they have supplied, probably old stock they got cheap.

It's coming straight off. Goodness knows where they found an 11 year old tyre from. The weird part is I had just taking it for a fairly hard ride up MacQuarie Pass ( my local tight mountain twistie road ) and it went well. I won't be pushing my luck again though. Luckily the front is a Pirelli Sport Demon that's up to date so I'll get a match for that.
