Fuel cap lock tumbler spins HELP
« on: July 19, 2017, 02:15:50 AM »
My 91 k100rs gas cap lock just spins when trying to unlock. I suppose from the reading i have done the pins have sheared off the bottom and or the plastic cup is damaged. Does anyone know how to remove the tumbler. Is it just a basic tumbler with the bottom key holding it in place? Any help would be appreciated.

The lock mechanism is secured with a spring clip but before you can release that clip to extract the tumbler, you'll have to disassemble the latching mechanism.  And to do that, you'll first have to open the gas cap if it is currently locked.  The only means to do that is to drill a hole in a special place on the cap to allow you to release it.  http://www.k100-forum.com/t9469-open-a-petrol-tank-cap-which-has-a-broken-lock
