K75S NON ABS - Spiegler SS Brake Lines [front]?
« on: January 15, 2017, 09:52:52 AM »
So I'm going to replace the lines on the bike, and have run into a question that I'm sure someone on here can answer. My bike is an 87' if that matters.

Do I want to retain the stock brake line routing (front) or have two separate lines from the master cylinder? Benefits to each? I'd like to think BMW ran it through the stem for a reason.....

Anyone have pictures of it installed the stock way? Does the kit come with the small line from the MC to the Stem? The description is quite vague.

Mine doesn't have two separate lines from the front master cylinder. It has one hose from the master cylinder to the right caliper then a metal pipe bridging from that caliper to the left caliper where the system is bled. It is described as from a from 08/92 S-style setup in the parts fiche at MAX BMW. As far as advantages go, it appears to be a less complex arrangement. It also doesn't seem worthy of obsession time to me. Both setups should stop the bike if they've been maintained.

The vendor should receive photos and measurements of all hoses and descriptions of their attachments to verify that the correct kit will be sent.

Filmcamera went through a minor drama with brake hose replacement that resolved itself nicely. Maybe he'll chime in.
