Greetings:
I am offering for sale my 1987 BMW K75 motorcycle. It is in good condition and running great, with a few minor issues that I will list below. I am asking $2100, which is less than I paid for it three years ago, in the hope of making a quick sale.
The blue paint is original. This bike is 29 years old and with its 1980s muscular look, is soon to be a classic. The K75 has the three-cylinder, 750cc "Flying Brick" engine, offering plenty of power and torque and renowned for its smoothness and longevity. Despite their age, the K-series "Flying Brick" engines were modern, fuel-injected and water-cooled.
I am the third owner. The previous owner, like myself an architect who lives in Los Angeles, owned it from 1990 until I bought it from him in 2013. Also like myself, he seldom rode it, and kept it garaged and cared for.
The bike has a few modifications from its original configuration, chiefly, the original windscreen and upright touring-style handlebars were removed and fitted with lower, sportier bars. The bike will include the original bars, windscreen, and a smaller, sportier "windabweiser" deflector screen. In addition, it comes with original manufacturer's equipment BMW rigid plastic tragkorb side bags. These are rare and valuable in themselves, and are essential for touring or commuting use.
The bike comes with new tires and a new battery, has a clean title and is registered through March 2017. It has been thoroughly reliable during the three years I have owned it.
Bike downsides include: some paint scratches here and there (although as far as I know, it has never been down or crashed during operation); a couple of tears in the leather seat that I did not bother to fix; the odometer stopped working a couple of years ago, an unfortunately common symptom on these K bikes, and though it reads 40,800 miles I am confident it has no more than 42,000 miles on it since I have used the bike sparingly; and the high-beam switch is wonky.
The bike is in my garage in Court 3 of the Village Green, at the corner of Coliseum and Redondo near the Baldwin Hills. Please contact me with any questions or to arrange to come and see it.
Thanks for your interest!
