Last Thursday Dan was stable enough to be transported from the hospital in Dayton to his hometown in Illinois. I couldn't blame him if he never wanted to swing a leg over a motorcycle again but he does not appear to be that kind of man. He posted this today on the SovietSteeds forum.
"Thank you everyone, you have been so incredible with your kind words and support. I'm on a lot of pain meds so I'm not always coherent, but I do want to say a few thing. When we decided to purchase a Ural I had been looking at them online for some time. When the time came I went to Heindls the day before to take care of the paperwork. The next day Diane,Joey, and I came to pick up the bike, we told Joey we were buying 4 tires. Upon arrival at Heindls showroom Joey kept pointing at different tires and asking are those our tires? After stringing him along for a bit I pointed at our GU and said here they are. After a half second he caught on and started yelling we're getting a Ural, repeatedly. Taking Joey riding in the Ural was a way to make him instantly happy, but as time went on I noticed how many people would look at us and smile. Motorcycles have always brought me joy but this was the first time I had seen the happiness spread to so many people. Joey just loved handing out flyers from our emissary kit. It may take a while to recover, but thanks to Sean and Holly saving my life, I will ride again. Sorry if I got too incoherent, but I did warn you going in."
