'93 K1100RS upper fairing Brace straightening?
« on: July 25, 2016, 09:30:16 AM »
Is there info on straightening the tubing that bolts to the frame headstock for support of the upper fairing? I can't be the only one here with Tip-Over-Tweeked upper fairing mount.  The mirrors have taken a lot of abuse, and transferred the force to that support, which has bent to the side, .....I think. I want to find data on how the measure the distances that were engineered from the factory. 4 fairing mounting points to some frame reference I would guess.  Anyone done this?

I know that when I replace my upper fairing mount on my LT, it pretty obvious, the weld was broken along the headstock mount points.
I didn't even bother trying to straiten/repair the broken weld, I just bought a new one and thru the old one out.

Usually a good indication of a bent bracket is that the fairing pieces don't line up easily when putting the panels on.
