Turn Signals Work, Flashers Don't
« on: June 13, 2016, 03:00:34 PM »
Another different relay question...

My flashers do not work on my 1996 K1100 LT but the turn signals do work perfectly. Could the flasher/turn signal relay be partially bad or could it be something else?
BTW, The flashers did work for a couple of weeks..but before that they didn't...now they don't again.

I'd interpret those symptoms as a problem with the dash switch.

+1 to what Laitch said.  To test the flashers, locate the plug for the switch under the tank and disconnect it.  With the ignition on, ground the Yellow/Violet wire.  The flashers should work.  If they do, the problem lies in the switch.  If they don't, the problem lies in the flasher module.

Guess what? I just got done soldering the dash switch wire back on to the dash switch.... Voila!

Thanks.....

Glad it wasn't the $120 to $160 relay (depending where you get it)

The wire was broken off of the soldered tab on the bottom of the switch. The existing wires were so short that I had to splice in two short pieces of wire between the switch and the wiring harness.  Now it works perfectly.

All in a day's play.
