Knobby Tires

I may be getting ahead of myself on this project, but I'm trying to get the big ticket items ordered so they'll be here after paint and ready for the rebuild.

I'm trying to figure out how to get some gnarly knobbies on my 1990 K100. Does anyone have experience with putting a larger tire into the front forks? What the largest size I can get away with?

I've posted a photo of a reference K100 but it's from pinterest and I can't find any other information about it other than the photo. Also, I did a search on this site and didn't find much information.

Any helps is appreciated!

Dang Johnny! Those are the EXACT tires in the picture. Googling TKC80 K100 also turned up the website with the build of that bike in the posted picture. I couldn't find it for the life of me, now I've got all the specs to pick and choose from.

Tire sizes:
Front = 110/80-18
Rear = 140/70-17

Those are what's on there currently. The bike was well taken care of and I've got plenty of documentation to sift through.

I'm planning on making her into a scrambler for long road trips/random back country camping. I'd imagine running tubes would be a bit of a better option in case I get stranded in the middle of the woods and need to do a repair. Thoughts?

yawl...

you need to get a donkey in your avatar... and your year model location in your profile or signature...

then...

if you want to know what parts fits your moto...

1st... getts the last 7 digits of your vin and put in here to see what your moto really is...

2nd... then pick your moto here...

3rd... after you figger out the exact part number put it in here to see what all motos it fits...

4th... then put your questions in here and  search it...

5th... make your post... include the part numbers you looked up... include screen prints to demonstrate you doing the minimum...

when you do the minimum your post will stand on its merits... if you choose to not do the minimum... mystic red will have your post locked and pinned up on the wall of shame... and you will  be sanctioned for a time... plenty enough time to figger out how to getts part numbers and screen shots in your next post...

Judgmental much? Not everyone loves the stock look. Some of us prefer to put our own signature on our bikes instead of allowing the company to tell us what to like.

I'm with you there..........got my own modified,stripped down, knobby tired K100GS, but that Honda Scrambler exhaust is UGLY! Besides, this whole Forum is nothing but judgemental, opinionated, & self-righteous.

 :hehehe You know laitch, my generation (X), gets tired of mediating between boomers sense of entitlement (like they were born w/a silver cobb up their a**) AND millennials with their unbridled naivete.  It is possible to live and let live w/o being a wanker.  There are not that many people who are drawn to what a motorcycle represents ie., freedom, self-reliance, individuality, exploration, etc. and can then sustain this concept (lifestyle riders :nono).  It appears to me that the tent is big enough that we would rather have them in the tent pissing out as opposed to outside the tent pissing in. :bmwsmile
