Duck's Cruise Control on K75 Help!
« on: March 19, 2016, 02:27:52 PM »
Having read Duck's paper on installing a Rostra electronic cruise control I decided to put one on my K75RT.  Got all the parts and pulled the fairing and tank off.   Visions of cruising across the Great Plains without the stress of trying to maintain the fastest legal speed.

I started laying out the job and have hit a problem with my bike.  Duck hangs a bracket off the frame tube and attaches the throttle cable to it.  Piece of cake, right?...

...No, Duck is doing the install on an 1100, and he can drop the throttle cable between the hoses running from the intake air plenum to the throttle bodies.  On my K75 there is this big friggin' plenum that overhangs the throttle bodies and the throttle quadrant.  I can't see any way to operate the throttle quadrant from the cruise that doesn't end up causing problems.

Has anyone successfully put a cruise control on a K75 or 8 valve K100?  Does anyone have any photos of how you solved the throttle connection problem?   Duck?

Either  parallel the original throttle cable or come down where the fast idle ( choke ) cable comes down. Might be able to extend the shaft and move the TPS out further or extend the shaft through the TPS ( probably not the easiest ) . Just a couple of thoughts I had while sitting under my favorite palm tree.

I'm trying to avoid reinventing the wheel.  Hope someone can show me a solution that works.  Last thing I want to do is have the throttle stick open at 85 mph.  I have heard that Duck has done these installs on K75's before.  Maybe he can post something here that would help others beside myself.
