1988 K75S No ABS, Brake Light Question
« on: September 05, 2016, 11:19:03 AM »
Found my one and only electrical gremlin of the rebuild...

When I depress my foot brake, the rear brake lights up. I get no illumination when I pull the front brake lever. The wiring is solid (tested & confirmed), the grounds are intact (tested & confirmed), the switch is good and so on. Everything points to a bad inner circuit within the BMU for that front brake to rear light electrical circuit. Before I order a new one, I figured I'd ask you guys... Am I missing anything?

Nobody had a response?!? Really, nobody? Not even a hint of scornful ridicule? (Sarcastic melancholy)

So, get this... It was the switch. Out of the right hand lever assembly, it worked; it was out (unscrewed) while testing the circuit. However, once installed, it wouldn't function properly. Basically, with the front brake lever engaged, the switch-stop that leaves the spring-actuated switch was not backing away far enough for the switch to activate (close the loop). I shimmed it with a washer, and bingo, the little bastard starting working.

Damn gremlins! (Actual or perceived)

It's the right handle bar brake switch. In the future, leave adequate time after posting the issue to allow members to register their scornful sarcasm and ridicule before announcing you have solved the problem. We have many needy members who look forward to daily dispensation of scornful sarcasm and ridicule. Some will go unfulfilled tonite because of your insensitive self- solving. Remember, only you can provide K-bikers their ejaculation of scornful sarcasm they so desperately need.
I think you knew the solution when you posted the problem! Showboat! :neener:
