It was a wire under the tank coming from the front brake light switch, no weakness just years of vibration, the guy just used the bulb test, which I tried but done it wrong :'( I know one thing, I am much better prepared for next time, and the experience encouraged me loads, I even took speedo apart to dry moisture out and pop in a silica bag. Its funny how much I love my bike again and can't wait to finish work to give it another good run.
