6000 rpm all day long??????
« on: June 28, 2011, 05:20:58 AM »
ok,  this is my first time owning a k75...let alone any bmw.
i love the bike, rides smooth..i've only had it a week and put a couple of thousand miles on it.

my question is.....is it safe to get on a highway with it and run it at 6000 rpm all day?

seems like other bikes i've owned  did'nt have to work as hard. ???
there's always another place to explore.

no problem they will runall day at that.  BMW say that you should not run them over 8000rpm for long periods so from that I presume that they consider 6000rpm is sweet.  Those 3cyl bricks are one of the sweetest running engines I have ever had.

Thanks for the info.
I haven't been on the highway yet.
 Just the 2 lane backroads.

Was a little worried about pushing her to hard.

I reckoned that mine was running a bit fast on the open road so I put the rear drive from a K100RS in it and it made a difference, probably bought it down by round 500rpm at highway speeds but it isn't quite as easy round town.

Yes. I've done it in Montana.
Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

Not a problem, I've done it as well.  Some bikes are built for high RPM's.  This is one of them.

6k is nothing on a kbike. They're built for the autobahn, cruising at 90+ all day. 6k is the real sweet spot for the engine.
