Hi guys
My question is really about the male connectors (and therefore the required size of female connector) as the ABS send and return lines that terminate under the yoke.
By way of background (sorry for the long post), I'm replacing the Front Brake Hoses (ancient rubber brake hoses) on my BMW K75 RT (1994) which is an ABS equipped bike. I am keeping the ABS.
I've bought one single Goodridge Braided Stainless Steel brake line - but on removal of the rubber pipes, I obviously need 2.
As many of you will know, being a 1994, my bike does not have the Y-pipe/ brake distributor pipe (nor the steering head pipe-routing) as IIRC BMW did away with this on later K75, at least they did on the K75 RT.
Instead, my bike has the metal send and return pipes to/from the ABS modulator which both terminate near the yoke and connect to both the upper hose (to master cylinder) and lower hose (to RH front caliper) respectively.
If my thinking is correct, this means I need:
UPPER HOSE: one hose 39 cm long - with one end male M10 (as per the Goodridge hose, to connect to the Master Cylinder banjo bolt) and the other end female M12 (to connect to the ABS send male connector).
LOWER HOSE: one hose 55 cm long - with one end male M10 (as per the Goodridge hose, to connect to the RH Front Caliper) and the other end female M12 (to connect to the ABS return male connector).
So to summarise (!), am I right in saying that both new hoses need to have M12 Female connectors to attach to the ABS send and return lines?
Another alternative is 2 hoses male to male with M10 to M12 adaptors - I expect this would be a costly and less efficient option.
Many thanks for your patience and in advance for your help!
