LCD gear indicator and polarized glasses

If I am wearing polarized sunglasses, I cannot see what gear I am in because the whole LCD display appears dark grey.  I know it has to do with the way light is reflecting off the LCD and the way the sunglasses are filtering that light. Anyone else encounter this and maybe found a fix?

Don't wear polarized glasses.

They aren't very good for riding IMO:

* They can create windscreen rainbows.

* They cause odd distracting reflections off of some car windshields/rear windows.

* They make it hard to read gas pump displays.

I never wear polarized glasses either riding or driving.

To really have fun while wearing polarized sunglasses try turning your head sideways when looking at the "funny" things.   Sometimes they disappear!

Hmmm, but I like how polarized glasses remove glare from the road. But they do add some interesting visual effects to clear plastics like gas pumps and windscreens. I was hoping that someone had discovered a clear plastic film that could be applied, but I guess not. I will give non polarized glasses a try and see if they work better for me.

eye docs who ride will tell you no polorized glasses when riding...

i recall a story of a guy who rode with a dark tent shield... when riding into the sun he would put on sunglasses too... one time he put on polorized sun glasses n cartwheeled off the road... he reported the polorization caused his depth perception to whack out riding into the vivid sun low on the horizion...

Well, I have a very strange conclusion.
If I put the plastic face shield of my Arai helmet down it (over my glasses) the polarization effect disappears. I wonder if the face shield is polarized...

Strange. . .The shield on my Arai mixed with polarized sunglasses just results in weird, distracting patterns on the shield, windscreen, and pretty much everywhere---much more so than with the sunglasses alone.

How bout those mirror shields, cefalu. Ever try those? Real glare killers.

I know where you're coming from. My eyes are built for thick jungle forest. Can't stand bright sun. My fave helmet is a dual sport with a mirror shield. The dual sports all have a brim like a ball cap that helps shade the eyes, and then the mirror shield kicks ass with glare.

I just picked up a hundred dollar Bilt modular Friday at CycleGear. Has an internal flip down dark shield. Fifteen bucks more bought me a mirror shield. Rode a hundred miles in the bright sun today, slabbing up through Jersey and back, light sensitive transition glasses, mirror shield, and dark shield down. Like riding in a cavern. Pure pleasure. Try that.
