I need to tap into the turn signal and running light wires to wire up my sidecar. This was already done back in 2006 on my black K75 when I had the K75 subframe installed by Dauntless Motors. Now I want to put the hack frame on my red K75 but am not completely understanding how the wiring works. I have little to no experience with signal wiring, so these are probably idiot questions...nuff said about that.
Here's the pic of how the wiring is tapped into on the black K75:
There are three wires that have female spade connectors tapped onto them, a gray (or black -- hard to tell the color) one, a yellow one and a blue one. When I put a test light on them, they show:
Gray (black) - running light
Blue - right blinker
Yellow - nothing
I looked at wires running to the bike's blinkers and both left and right are blue, so I'm assuming they're both using the same power wire and the left/right switching is done through the yellow wire which I assume is ground. But I don't get how this works. Would someone mind giving a short explanation? I know it ain't rocket science but..., well, understanding something sure helps when trying to do that thing and not understanding it results in unnecessary cursing and gnashing of teeth.
Also, any idea where I can get the blue female spade splice connectors shown in the pic? I'd look for them but I don't even know what they're called. They basically clip into the existing wire and output to a female spade connector -- you can't see them very well here because there's spade connectors on them -- if you need a better pic I can get one.
