Adding Fork boots, work-around?

Is there a work-around for putting fork boots on, or an 'easy way'? Thinking I could hang the brake lines/calipers for less reassembly :hmm:

Just let them hang by the brake lines.  I know people get all hot and bothered and say you shouldn't but I've always done it like that and never had a problem.

or the REAL easy way, get 2 Rancho RS1952 Shock Boot from Amazon ($3.29 ea), slit them up the back and slip them on.  I cut off one end that was a little narrow.   :yes :yes

I did the same thing when I put boots on the '97 the first time. Slit them up the back side and used a leather punch for some holes and used small black zip ties to "lace" it on.

Had the 2nd set waiting..................  I put them on just this summer when I had the front end apart for steering head bearings.

I know this is an old thread, just ordered two of those Rancho RS1952 Shock boots, looks like the cheapest solution to keeping my K75 forks clean... just sayin'...

Just a tidbit to remember, if you put them on whole, make yourself a hole at the bottom to allow any moisture/oil/water to drain out(should there be any in there).
If you have the top portion snug/tight around the fork, leave yourself a couple small holes(on the back side out of sight is best) for air equalization during fork operation..... the single drain hole might possibly be enough, but I put one at the top end as well.

Thanks for that tidbit Scott, I'll be doing the equalization and drain holes, had been wiping the forks off after every ride, but starting worrying and thinking more and more about seals, hence the fork gaiters. These (Rancho RS1952) shock absorber boots seemed to be the most cost effective solution for our type of riding...

I got them already, but had to pay about $10 each for them via a Canadian supplier in Vancouver, when we go to Montana this summer I'll likely get another set for $4 each... :(
