Fitting Dually LED lights to a K75S
« on: March 09, 2015, 08:58:07 AM »
I had a pair of Dually lights on my previous bike and have been wondering how to attach them neatly and stably to the K75S.  This is what I came up with using RAM mounts.

The RAM part numbers used were:

RAM-B-201 Standard arm but with the thumb bolt replaced with a regular bolt so they are harder to steal.
RAM-B-231Z U-bolt base with the 1 1/4 inch u-bolt
RAM-B-367u motocycle handlebar clamp mount with the M8 bolt replaced with an A4 stainless 45 mm bolt plus nyloc nut (from Westfield Fasteners in the UK)

I got the RAM parts from BuyBits, price and delivery were the best I could find in the UK (where we pay about 2 times the US price  :musicboohoo:)

This set up gets the lights in about the same position as attaching to crash bars would. Using a longer arm would give a little more clearance to the fairing but then they would be more vulnerable if the bike gets dropped.

So far the set-up is nice and stable.  I have included a PWM dimmer in the circuit so that the lights don't dazzle other road users.  I plan to include a relay to bring them up to full power when the headlight main beam is switched on but I'll implement that when I re-do the headlamp wiring Eastern-Beaver-style.

Jonny, here is the full frontal as promised, one shot with the lights on dimmed setting, one with full beam and a shot of the control unit which fits nicely above the ignition.
