K75 switchable live.
« on: October 20, 2014, 08:54:40 AM »
Hi again.
I am attempting to wire in a digital speedo onto my K75 and do not have any sort of multi meter. I wish to wire it in so it will come on when I turn the ignition. I have exposed the wires which run from the ignition switch and they are red, green, grey and grey with blue stripe. Obviously I'm assuming the red but thought I would ask first. Thanks.

Why not take the wires going to the original speedometer? Those are on the green plug and the required wires are:

Red/white = constant power, green/black = switched power

Pin 1 and 6 if memory serves me right

The bike only had a push bike speedo fitted so the original speedo is long gone.... pretty much the whole of the front end has been altered....suppose I can try and find the green plug or a green/black.

Harbor freight is your friend. You need a multimeter. Sometimes they are free with a purchase. Otherwise, 5 dollars, tops.

The green wire is switched power, the red one is unswitched input to the ignition switch.
If you use the green wire, don't forget a fuse in the circuit.
