Wind buffeting
« on: August 28, 2014, 07:16:06 AM »
The windshield on my Pichler V1 is vertically adjustable by 2-3 inches. It seems that whether it's all the way down, halfway up, or all the way up, that the wind is beating up my helmet (and thus head). Relative height varies from being able to really see over the top of it, seeing a few car lengths in front of it, to seeing everything through it.

I've heard of guys cutting the lips off the top of their windshields to stop the buffeting (Pichler has one). Any comments on doing such a thing?

Isn't that what those laminar lips do? I just had a look at a pic of your bike...I guess even a taller windshield wouldn't help you much because the angle of the windscreen is so close to horizontal. It's almost as if the whole thing was designed to point wind directly at your forehead. I don't think that fairing was designed for upright-seated riding.

I'd think about the laminar lip -- you might be able to angle it more to the vertical and get yourself some relief.
