First post, so hello!
I am from the UK but now living and working in Northern France, where the roads are great for riding. Other than the BMW my other motorcycling interest is Kawasaki 2-stroke triples. I currently have a 1978 KH250 and a number of boxes of bits that is opimistically described as 'the special'. Once the BMW is on the road, that will be my next project. But first things first.
I bought a K1100LT last March and am just getting started on making it as I want it.

It is a UK spec, ex-police model, with the single seat and Craven tragkorbs. My plan is to turn it back into a dual-seat version and with that in mind I have bought some parts from Motorworks in the UK - twin seat, tail-piece, footrests, touring tragkorbs, tragkorb frames, etc.
I will also be having the whole thing painted so that it looks nothing like a white, police BMW.
My problem - and the main reason I have joined this forum - is that my mechanical skills are, to say the least, minimal. I am going to need lots of advice, even for the things that most of you will consider basic. I apologise in advance! I am determined to learn and to carry out as much of the work on it as possible myself.
So, that's me - looking forward to lasking, looking and learning.
Cheers,
Ken
