I did use the seach function to little avail, though that could be the keyboard operator. And my question(s) have probably been answered ad nauseum in some form or another.
I'm not completely unfamiliar with the K100 model having previously owned an '86 K100RS and an '89 K100RS ABS but my knowledge of the K75 is limited and of course I bought a project bike.
Will a 86 K100 tank fit my 86 K75c? Both have the same mounting points (style not location perhaps? but the two nubs at the rear of tank are similar), proper vent tubes, same fuel line insertion tubes, and the same sending unit (the 4 screw plate on the bottom not the thread in type). Obvious difference is the two pegs at the front of the K75 tank that the rad surround plugs into.
My observation tells me the tank has to mount at the front on the rubber dampers and the two grommets on the frame where the rear tank nubs push in. Are the frames/tanks so different that perhaps the distance between these points makes a 'non-fit'? Is the K100 tank longer?
I can't seem to figure out the difference between the two models short of having two tanks to swap out. I believe the K100 capacity is greater, so would the tank be 'wider' as well?
Just looking for some direction. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.
