Re-routing the Ignition switch.
« on: September 30, 2013, 01:07:22 AM »
Im having ignition switch issues. Mine jsut does not work. One of the mini bearings fell out which is probably why. It cracked when I pulled it apart...

Anyway, I currently have a regular spst switch on the red and green wires and the two grey ones are tied together. It works fine.

I plan on relocating the switch when I purchase a new one. Any suggestions as to where? Maybe back by the seat? Or up front somewhere? It would be nice to dispose of that big hunk of rubber covering the bars... especially when all thats there is a hazard switch.

I strapped mine to the frame on the right side. The stock wiring is long enough that you'll have a lot of positioning flexibility.

Like Tim said, there's plenty of wire down there.

I put mine in the lower half of the airbox, just aft of where the snorkel goes in.

Here's how I did it:  http://www.motobrick.com/index.php?topic=3605.msg21610#msg21610

I'm happy with it.

I hooked my ignition switch up to my gas cap... when I turn it on the gas cap cracks open which releives negstive gas tank pressure which is known to cause the engine to cut out on hot days...

I initially made the mistake of installing mine on the left side of the bike. That lasted about ten minutes. Don't do that.  :nono

Looks great! Looks more stock in that location and relatively easy to do.
