Blinkers gone bonkers?
« on: September 22, 2013, 07:11:09 AM »
Hi all. All of a sudden my blinkers stopped working. I was riding in the city and after turning one corner the blinkers just stayed on. No blinking, just the right side blinkers on. Nothing happens from the cancel button or the left hand button. They even stay on with the ignition off (even with the ignition key off!) I took the blinkers/clock fuse out in order to ride safer. I checked all the bulbs and wirings (as much as I could) as the Haynes manual suggests to do just that instead of replacing the usual suspect, relay, first. To no avail, however.

So, any suggestions, or is it just the relay? I didn't check it or anything (I don't know if it is even possible to test these things) as it sits under the tank, and it is so close to winter garage time anyway.

For me, I traced somewhat similar symptoms to the load shed relay.
Try swapping the load shed and horn relays and see if that resolves it.
(on my K75 they are the same, not sure if that applies to all models).

Also, because of the way the load shed relay functions, a dirty starter can cause these kinds of things too.

Also, check your fuses.

I had psycho blinkers once on a K-bike I'd just purchased, thinking I'd have to dig into grounds, relays, etc.  Turned out it was missing one of the middle fuses (can't remember exactly which one now).  It sure was cool to find such a simple fix!

No, I am not cool.  Yes, it really is the journey.

I'm dealing with an issue where both left and right blinkers blink regardless of what side button I press. I posted earlier about this and tried finding issues with the horn fuse as suggested, but I'm still troubleshooting...

one thing I did notice is how dirty all the connectors are. Im going to go through each connector and spray them with wd40. something that should be done anyway. hopefully this solves the problem.
