I bought my K1100RS -94 year 2011 in a bit sad condition. It had a broken headlight and scratches here and there. It had about 63000 km in the gauge but I think it has seen more, about 100k. Still it is techically in good condition. It eats about 4.5 - 5.5 l/100km and makes healthy sounds. Only the fore pumps and the speedo gave me some work. Pumps were leaking and the speedo needle jumped up and down.
I do not drive much. Mostly suburban trips. So far only one longer one: 2200 km during two dark, chilly and rainy days. Sailing and house restauration takes most of my free time.
I'm 198cm long and the original windshield is not for me. The wind hit my helmet with awful noise. I made some tests and found that it is rather easy to add a small piece of sheet Polycarbonate which changes the wind totally. Now the wind hits my chest and the noise is much better.
I'm looking for a good way to connect a fuel gauge to my system. I found a good new gauge and will give it a try. I'll build a better digital meter with two characters telling the sittuation in litres, when I have a moment to spare.
