Manometer Recommendation

Can anyone recommend a nice manometer that strikes a balance between value and quality/effectiveness?

What should I know and/or look for as I shop?

It works really well.  I originally got it for my old CB900c, which had a 4-carb gang.  It works fine on a K-bike though.  Just an extra gauge on a K75.

They don't come with directions, but they are easy to figure out.  Plus they come with all the adapters.  The pics are not the best, but on the bottom of each gauge is a knurled nut, that you can adjust to stop the needles from fluttering all over the place.

Just a happy customer, of this particular ebayer. :yes

Also the adapters aren't used on a K-bike, but they are needed on others.  The CB900c has a little screw on the head right above the intake runner, without, the adapters the hoses would melt before you could get the carbs sync'd.  DAMHIK

I've got a cheap mercury type. works well. I got it for my cb550.

Well if you want to save some coin, come on over we can sync 'em up in about 5 minutes.

It is so much easier on these than a set of carbs.  No fans to set up, no tank removal, no extra adjustment tools...

That or we could even meet up some time and do it.  It's so easy you could do it at a rest stop or park. :yes

I tried making my own and I really think it would work well on the bricks.  It didn't work on my CB (it got too hot and the hoses pulled off just as I was finishing), and made me get the one I have.  I will see if I can dig up a pic.  It's just some hose, fittings, a board, and some 2smoke oil.

Oops, sorry. I called you "Drifter" in my previous post. DRAFTER.....DRAFTER.....there, I got it now.

Heck ya, hooking up sounds great. Though you say a sync could be performed anywhere, I would hate to make your pack your gear and go mobile with it. Maybe sometime I could meander through Iowa Amish country and wind up in DSM  :2thumbup: We will have to work something out in the near future.

It's all packaged nicely in a case.  Really no problem going mobile.  That and a screwdriver and you are all set.

I'm northeast of Dsm about 50 miles, I've got both a Carbtune and TwinMax.
I tried to make my own contraption too a few years back and it just didn't work.
From that experience I got the TwinMax, it worked ok, but I still wasn't quite fully satisfied with it, only being able to check 2 at a time.
That led to my purchase of the CarbTune. I love it. Should have gone this route the 1st time and been done with it..........

I am in Galesburg, IL. For reference, Iowa City is about an hour and forty minutes from me.

It sounds like going mobile with your rig is a worry-free proposition. Heck, let's plan a rendezvous! After performing a super sync on my TBs we could go burn some tarmac. And, I would love to get some feedback on the state of my bike. Scott, you should join us!

I've done that trip a few times and enjoy it a lot.  Gotta stay off the slab though. :yes
