Fox Rear Shock
« on: November 20, 2012, 02:29:28 PM »
A fox rear shock has appeared on flebay. It's real dirty but for under $70 I'd be willing to risk it to improve over my worn out stock unit.
Has anybody ridden with one and have an opinion on it?

I had one on my K1100LT for a while. Seemed to be OK.
Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

I have one on my 1996 K1100RS and it works fine. Make sure it is designed for your bike. There is still some question in my mind whether mine was supposed to be on my bike. The fit information didn't include the 1996 model for this shock. But it fits anyway.

I think in a round about way I now have the Fox shock Drake had on his LT. I have it on my '97.
It fits ok, but sometimes I think it's a little oversprung for empty bare bike riding. It does ride better when I have the bike loaded down more or when I'm 2-up.

The description says it came from an '85 K100RT and I emailed them and confirmed that it was the stock length.
I don't know how much heavier the RT is over the RS so it could be a bit stiff but I think I'm going to do for it.

Most of the fairing weight is on the front suspension.
