Need to change lock cylinder on city bag
« on: November 04, 2012, 08:12:49 PM »
My new (to me) 1994 K75, which is in great shape, had a broken latch on the right city bag (I knew about this before purchase); it's the latch that locks the bag to the frame on the bike.  I found a guy with a like-new replacement latch, removed the old and riveted on the new.  And the new holds the bag on the bike perfectly.  But now I need a new locking cylinder-- the old cylinder was broken (slides right in and out of the latches, either the new latch or the old).  I can probably buy a new one, unless someone knows where to find a used one.  But then, can the new (to me) locking cylinder be keyed to the same key I use for the rest of the bags?  I'd appreciate any and all advice.

Inge:  Thanks.  That looks simple enough that perhaps even I could do it.
