1984 k100rs won't start
« on: September 24, 2012, 07:23:18 AM »
I just bought one, ran perfectly, replaced old battery, degreased and hosed out that area, drying up, water came out of ecu, let it dry, put back together, spins over well, fuel pump works, eventually fuel leak onto exhaust, but no sign of wanting to start. As pressure drops, fuel leak stops, it's only ever a few drips, acts like injectors not being allowed to open. Have I ruined ECU
Is there an easy way to test it. How can I get it fixed or replaced in Australia

Quite possibly it is OK they are very prone to problems with contact at the big flat plug so pull it out of the ECU and replug making sure it goes back and clicks into place. It would also pay to make sure the whole thing is dry. Open the case and put it in the sun for a few hours then put it back together with a little sac of silica gel in there, that will keep it dry.
Give it a go starting and see if it helps.
If there is any sign of white powdery corosion then it probably is shagged.
