Clutch lever sensor/switch
« on: November 24, 2014, 03:24:17 PM »
Hi
Just trying to replace all levers and switch gears on handlebar, so that is why I bought all of them from different bikes but suitable for my purpose. Now, dismantling the cluch cable I discover the sensor (gauge) which is pushed by clutch lever, but have no idea what is that for??? Earlier I was thinking is a choke sensor (that shows on speedo choke in yellow) but now getting confused. My new clutch lever do not have any place for that (suzuki sv650). So anyone can explain me what is that sensor for? And possibly what can I do with it?

To be able to start you must have the bike in neutral, if it's in gear you must pull the clutch to start.
The switch is there to avoid that the bike moves when you push the starter button (if it's in gear).

Ohhh yes  :yes In the meantime I did read about that as well. But now I do not have any place for that swich so, I guess I should hard connected and isolated and leave it as it is? Than will be able to start the engine even on the gear. Have no choice I have get rid of that because new lever and clamp has no place for that. Any suggestion ???

Just disconnect it, the connector you find under the tank.....then you only can start when in neutral.

The switch you can keep as a spare part....same switch is used for front and rear brake light switch
and choke warning lamp.
