Myself I focus on k1 since 2002.

Welcome!  I have to admit that I have never seen a real K! in the flesh.  I guess people don't ride the ones that are out there very much.

True, the k1 seems to be like fallenoff the face on the earth since decades...

However, rumours say that  500 of the k1 might have left globally.
I am in touch with k1 owners globally.

However, there is a community in a couple of countries in Europe.
Myself Ive organized a k1 gathering May 2019 due to it s 30th anniversary with 30  k1 ....

Wish there were more K1 bikes around.  Members here watched in horror about 8 years ago as a blue K1 in Mexico was butchered into a cafe racer.  It was in perfect condition with low miles.  The butcher chose it for his project because of the yellow wheels.

I agree with you. Motorcycle butchers have no soul, no feeling for a value... That is one reason why the global inventory of k1 is down to approx. 500 only

On the other hand, low quantities increase the value of the remaining k1...
