On a recent long ride on the K75C (the one where my odometer broke due to old plastic gears) I did a fairly long stint at high speeds on the highway. The bike ran well overall but when I was unpacking the side case close to the exhaust, it was fairly warm to the touch. Nothing melted or anything like that but I wanted to know if anyone else has done any sort of modification to the side case to try to help block the heat from the exhaust. I was thinking of some sort of heat protection tape both underneath the side case (facing the exhaust) as well as another layer inside the case on the bottom. Would that help?
I have done a search on related keywords and didn't see anything.
I know there are exhaust wraps- I don't think that will help. I'm more trying to keep the temps inside the side case a bit lower if the bike's been at high RPMs for many hours.
