Long time since I have been on here.
All ok?
Got to get the brick back on the road, it’s been layed up for over a year.
Any advice before I try and awaken the beast?

Drain the old fuel from the tank. While it's empty, verify that all the hose connections within it are tight. Fill the tank with fresh fuel. Verify all the spark plug wire and coil connections are clean and tight. Fully charge the battery then try starting it with five-second bursts and let us know the outcome.

While in the tank, it is also a good idea to inspect all the rubber parts- hoses and fuel pump mounting.  If they've never been replaced it would be a good time to do that.  Also inspect the bottom of the fuel tank for corrosion from moisture trapped there.

What's the point of five second bursts:?  Just hold the starter button until the fuel system pressurizes.

The point is to prevent battery failure, or if fuel isn't the problem, a fire from starting. Now I acknowledge that you claim to have made more mistakes working on Bricks than many other folks as a learning method , but that doesn't mean everyone should take that path.

I've never made a mistake bringing a K back from the dead. The worst mistake I've ever made has been forgetting to plug in the L-Jetronic first. DOH!

Heck, I've even run batteries really low without ever frying a starter relay - and Lord knows I've tried.

Righto. Yes. I replaced all the rubber pipes, pump etc, a year or so ago. I also had to get the tank welded in that dreaded left corner. Probably need another battery now, but I plan to have a go at it all in a couple of days time. Been doing loads of other stuff since I have been on here last.
