Creating an Alternator Harness
« on: March 01, 2022, 08:11:29 PM »
hello there,

I was in the middle of wiring my bike with the motogadget m-unit when i unexpectedly had to move. the only thing missing from the move is the harness for the alternator (thick red wire, thin blue wire, and the plug that goes to the back of the alternator). I cannot for the life of me find one for sale online. Is it possible to make one? What are some options for replacing it?

Thank you

Among options are shielded female spade terminals and heat shrink tubing for connecting wires to the alternator and a ring terminal on the end of the wire coupled to the battery. The thin blue wire went from the alternator to the battery/charging indicator light on the original instrument cluster. How are you dealing with that on your m-unit, if at all?

Thanks for the info! As for the charging indicator, I'm going to use a small light bulb and hide it under the tank

The red wire is 4.0 metric - roughly equivalent  to 12 AWG.
Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.
