MY K75 WILL NOT RUN / START
« on: April 12, 2020, 01:35:50 PM »
For the last few days I have been trying unsuccessfully to get the Brick to run.  The starter spins but that's all..  I have spark at all 3 cylinders and a steady stream of fuel when I disconnect the fuel hose and run the starter.  I keep trickle charging the battery.
Nevertheless I replaced the fuel filter which was a bit hard to blow through.  The fuel pump seemed to do fine when I checked it inside the tank but it still refused to run.  What is a shade tree mechanic to do?
I hope that one or more of you can give me some advise to solve  this problem.

You will pointed in a direction of instructions somewhere relating to air, fuel, spark etc.

It would help to be a bit more specific: such as, when your starter spins, is the engine turning over?

If no, then it's a starter engagement issue (sprag clutch?).

If yes, then you need to check your spark plugs for if they're wet or not.

After that, you will need a more mechanically inclined mechanic to help you out!!

Good luck, I'll read this as I read almost all the threads on this forum.

When you replaced the filter did you replace the lines? I made the mistake once of using the short lines which came attached to the filter (NAPA Gold.) Those lines are NOT rated for immersion in fuel and soon swell and fail to stay connected.

Thank you guys for all your advice and suggestions. And to answer a few of your questions; Yes, the starter does crank the engine, the sparkplugs are dry and the Brick ran fine until about a week ago and nothing had been done to it until it failed to  start up.
So yesterday I drained all the fuel (no water in it) and  I replaced the filter (using the hose that came originally with the bike).
I filled the tank half way with new fresh fuel and after a few tries it started up although it sounded it was only on 2 cylinders. The third one kicked in a bit later and I let it idle for 20 minutes occasionally goosing it a bit to 4K rpm or so.

It kept running smoothly without the fast idle and overjoyed I finally turned it off. fully expecting it to turn on w/o problems this morning.   To my chagrin I could not get it started so back to square one.

I am beginning to suspect the fuel injectors and am doing some research on this site and YouTube to find out how to go about cleaning / replacing them.  Unchartered territory for me so, as always, your views and suggestions are more than welcome.
