I bought it in 2014 from a friend who kept it for years in a climate-controlled garage. Since then, I've kept it in my more modest garage. Tires are a from 2014, still have some life in them. Battery is also from 2014, but I've kept it on a Battery Tender pro as long as I've had it. Drove it to Wisconsin and back in 2018 and it's mostly been sitting since.
Last year I replaced all the rubber fuel lines. You'll be glad I did. It used to backfire when decelerating due to unmetered air caused by a crack in the crankcase breather hose. That hose is a pain to reach but I did it for you. You're welcome! haha
I've got receipts for other routine maintenance I had done at shops, including Bloodworth.
Bike starts as it should, runs great and driving it is like driving a rocket ship. Ear to ear grin guaranteed.
Has a Corbin seat that is insanely comfortable. Condition is really excellent for a 30-year old bike.
notable blemishes:
* some cracking near the windshield fasteners because PO overtightened them. I've thought about replacing it, but it feels really stable. Windshields are still available (maxbmw has them, maybe others)
* some scratches on the RHS of the engine
Accessories included:
* factory tool kit
* factory manual and promotional materials. The 1990 BMW catalog has some incredible European fashions.
* cigarette lighter socket adapter. This plugs into the electrical circuit and lets you run connect things that hook into a cigarette lighter. heated vests, phone charger, GPS, etc.
* oil filter wrench
* one full oil change kit with the filter and all the o-rings, etc. you'll need (expect oil)
* Gen 1 hard bags with keys, one of which has a bottle opener installed.
* handlebar riser kit. PO had this installed to bring the handlebars back an inch or so.
* slightly water damaged Clymer manual. PO's fault
* Haynes manual in perfect condition
* laminated parts fiches for the entire bike
* a really expensive, deluxe cover. for the life of me, I can't remember the brand name, but I did a bunch of research and paid a bunch of money for the best I could find.
