Bar Angle of K75S with C handlebars
« on: November 02, 2011, 10:28:06 AM »
i recently bought the red 88 k75s with 24k miles that was missing some fairing pieces and fasteners.  i finally got the fairing squared away and a new tire on front and made a half-tank checkout run.

The handlebars had been swapped out by some previous owner to the "C" bars, and the longer i rode the more i disliked the bar angle with respect to my arms and wrists.  It didn't feel right and caused a pressure point on the outer edge of my palms.  To get my hand square on the grips would require pulling my elbows in touching my body and cocking my wrists out.

i guess i'm just used to the "S" bars where the feeling there is mainly on the inner edge of the palms between the thumb pad and the index and middle fingers, and no elbow contortions are necessary--it just has a natural feel that the grips are right where they should be for a comfortable ride.

Anybody else noticed that sort of pressure thing, and if so what did you do to remedy the situation?  i'm tempted to get a big cheater bar piece of pipe and bend those suckers...

Why do you feel the need to have your hands "square" on the grips?  That seems like a very awkward way to ride to me.

the po of the burd... a 1996 1100 rs motobrick... had c bars on it when i got it...

i rolled with them for 1 year before putting the stock rs bars back on...

c bars felt like the height n angle caused diminished motocontrol and uncomfortable hands n wrists...

the stock bars are 100% yeeeeehaaaaaaaaa...

may not apply to a 750 s motobrick... just 1 motobrickers opinion...

The shape of the S and RS bars is the same.  If you're going to ride turns hard then the S/RS bars are better since you get your weight farther forward and get better control because it's easier to get your weight inside of the turn.

I've tried both C bars and barbacks on S/RS bikes.  Neither lasted more than a day.

My K75, since I use it for city riding mostly, has C bars.  They work fine for that purpose.  If I were going to go out and ride twisties on it though I'd probably swap in some S bars.

Have you tried loosening the clamps and rotating the bar up or down?  Tried C bars for a while, I've found the S bars with barbacs ideal for me.
