Suggestions for Repairing Case Handle
« on: April 28, 2020, 04:10:49 PM »
My K75S came with Integral cases but the handle on one of them got pulled out when someone used it as an anchor point when trying to tow the bike.  Apparently PO had parked illegally :)  I am looking for suggestions on how I can get the handle back into the case without needing to buy tools I don't have, like a rivet tool.  A relatively quick and dirty solution is preferred.  Doesn't even have to look too pretty since its a case handle.

Here is a pic of where the handle attaches.

How much are you willing to spend versus finding a new/used one? I've been seeing them for USD $200. As to repair you're probably looking at a bit of epoxy work.Sorry it's past midnight and I'm not up to going out and examining a bike to see what's involved. Depending on how damaged the handle is I would look at some JBWeld on the inside of the mount point to try and rebuild the case at that point. Depends on how badly the handle and the mount point are actually damaged.

Handle is actually fine.  It just got pulled out of the holes.  I ended up ordering a rivet gun/rivets for $12 on amazon so I'll give that a shot.  Didn't realize you could get them that cheap.  Been buying various small tools for one off jobs recently so I guess I'll do it again :)
