magnet location for stop light sensors

Where is the best place to put a magnet to actuate the magnetic field detectors used at some intersections to change the traffic lights?

On a previous street bike, I used the steel frame down tube in front of the engine, and put a couple of rare earth (neodymium) magnets. Obviously that won't work the same on my RT.

Aren't the triggering mechanisms based on engine or vehicle mass (Cars don't have magnets to trigger the lights)? I usually ride up to the intersection, making sure the engine is over one of the embedded wires.  That usually does the trick.

In this video, outdoor mounting tape is recommended to attach the magnet to the motorcycles.

This Washington Post article attempts to explain the system. Vermont is replacing this style of detector with camera loop technology mounted above signalized intersections.
