Fuel Pump Vibration Damper
« on: May 20, 2018, 03:58:43 PM »
EXTREMELY disappointed that the vibration damper I got with the Complete Pump Kit I bought for the '85 from EME last year has already split and fallen apart. Alcohol resistant my A**.

I've emailed them to see if there had been a problem. Hate to give them $57! for another but not too many other options.

I did not leave fuel in it over the winter as I was working on it - new temp. sensor, replaced external fuel lines, new Z pipe. I got all of 2k miles with it.

Follow up.

After several emails (they answered on a Sunday!), EME said they had a bad batch back in 2016 and thought they had recalled all of them, but apparently not. They stepped up to the plate and are sending a full replacement kit.

In addition to the damper, the pump would not pump when I attempted to put it back on the road. I pulled it out and got it working on the bench, but then it started blowing fuses - once whilst I was test riding it. When I took it and filter out of the tank this week, black gas poured out of the filter. Thinking a plugged up filter was also part of the problem.
