Just wanted to post up an odd problem I had, and the solution to it.
I had been experiencing pulsation on braking. Felt kinda like a warped rotor, or even just deposits on the rotors. But the rotors were cleaned, and measured straight.
Eventually, started experiencing a clicking with riding, coming from the hub. I thought it might be a bad bearing. But when I removed the wheel to replace the bearing, the bearing came out without heat or a puller, and the bearing itself was in perfect shape.
Best I could tell, the bearing hadn't really "spun" fully (since the bearing was still good), but it was loose. Measured to have about 0.003" of clearance.
Repair consisted of replacing the bearing on the good side, followed by a new bearing on the bad side, installed with Loctite 660, with it's specified Loctite 7941 primer. Loctite 660 is good to far wider gaps than present on mine.
I may or may not be able to remove the bearing in the future, so I will eventually get my original wheel straightened for when these bearings wear out.
