I live in S.F. Bay Area and my parents moved and retired to Mt. Shasta, CA. some twenty years ago. Mt. Shasta, CA is just above Redding, CA. I will second JO's recommended route. I travel this proposed route almost every month to check on my parents and make sure they are alright, (they are both 86 y.o.). You will absolutely love this proposed ride. I love it and I ride it and never get tired of it. You ride this route and you will get to see and experience a nice chunk of what Northern California, USA has to offered in motorcycle riding.  ;D

talked to paul... he gotts his rick mayer saddle n is putting some of these route ideas in his gps... interesting his gps said fr1 isnt paved... i recall riding with a guy with gps set to paved only n that was a f ed up cluster... gps boo...

when i say... without pashnit.com i would still be on the shoulder of the 5 - 99 split wondering if the 99 was a better ride... i mean it... yeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...
