well now... its a new tradition... have been to the indy 500 30 consecutive years... last year we watched it on tv for the 1st time... this year will be the 2nd time watching it on tv... so a new tradition has begun...

the memorial weekend classic has always been very special to us... but being the offspring of the greatest generation era folks... i know the real meaning of memorial day... so for those who have served and for those who have supported those who have served... we cant thank you enough...

we wanted to ride nac fer once again on saturday so we were ready at 1st light... milpitas in a cloud and with the weather girl saying the fog would burn off in the afternoon... we delayed our departure for a couple hours and headed down to the garlic epicenter to to ca 25... we burned it up as the blue skies showed through the clouds...








then picked up bitterwater to jolon road to the fine warring base...











the obligatory tank and target photos...








the cool clouds made way to the warm sun... time to shed the electrics... hoping the fog had burned off on the other side of the hill...








heading up the nac fer we found the road to be mostly clear of other vehicles and debris...





its really a leisurely ride through the canopy of trees...








grunting through the hairpins...














we crested the hill... anticipating the views... and we find this...





no such luck for blue sunny skies on the coast today...





pashnit moto roads... without pashnit is would be looping the 101... 880... 237...





the flowers were abundant...











rolling down the hill... wondering if we would end up in fog soup or break through the high clouds into a paradise sunny paradise...












































the west side of the hill is as interesting as the east side of the hill...











this hairpin was a calender shot... seriously considered going back and setting it up and taking the time to get it right... the asphalt was dark black... lined with red clay... a tiny stream was trickling underneath it... three redwoods were playing huggy pole to the whole thing... and the fog was blowing... wow... should have returned for the shot... o well...

we were concerned about holiday weekend traffic on the 1... we encountered a heavy stream southbound but rode from nac fer to big sur without a single northbound vehicle in front of us...
