Throttle grip assembly.
« on: July 20, 2017, 11:38:58 PM »
On my K75s I have a lot of slack and play on the throttle grip, when I roll the throttle open and let go it seems ok and I can hear the throttle click close but if I roll the grip forward there is a bit of play that simulates a flat spot when accelerating. Feels like there is no mechanical/ physical stop in hand grip assembly.
There's a large Phillips head screw on center of cover that I cannot tighten, it causes binding on grip. This screw was loose when I assembled the bike.

Consulting clymers manual gives no info on throttle grip assembly. All components are clean and well lubricated.
I have clip ons a la cafe style so not sure if this could be causing the slop in the cable (shorter distance).

Any input will be appreciated.

If you undo the large phillips head screw you will see a bevel gear assembly. Clean out the old grease and then align the two straight marks on the gears. Grease with clean grease I use the white lithium grease in the spray can and reassemble.

Yes. After cleaning and inspection discovered that alignment marks did not match after aligning marks and reassembly all is well, no more sloppy throttle and was able to tighten screw securely without any binding.
