Title: Horn has mind of it's own.
Post by: Ward on June 05, 2017, 09:26:15 AM
Hello. I'm new to K100s. Just picked up an original owner '88 K100lt with 20k miles. Great condition bike. I went through all the maintenance items before firing it up. Had to install a new starter relay because the old one was fried because of a weak battery. The bike fired right up and everything worked well. I went on my first ride...

A few miles from home the horn just started blaring. I pulled over and tried shutting the bike down. Horn kept going for about 5 minutes then stopped. I started the bike and went home. Same scenario happened again so I pulled the horn fuse so I could get to work.

I've looked at many posts and I can't find one with this unique problem. Horn decideds to come on and go off on its own. Any suggestions?

Check relay.  Check and clean horn switch.  This is where I would start.

Clean the contacts check the wiring for bare wires shorting out. Worst case scenario get an Exorcist it could be possessed.  :yow

Count your blessings my friend. The horn is such a simple thing.  :kill-sword-dueling:
