Title: F'n rear brake

So I noticed my rear brake reservoir was about bone dry. Seems the rear master cylinder had a slow leak and looking around the task seems easy I'm just pissed the 12mm is almost twice as much as the 13mm. Beemer Boneyard is out.


It seems the rubber boot just worked it's way loose and got seriously gummed up and likely created the leak. The dealer says the rebuild kits don't work well and the dam MS is $255 for the 12mm and a $93 Rebuild.



So I see this and it looks like the least amount of jerry rigging and money.

Any idea? I've spent hours looking over this here and it simply yields more bitching and moaning than I've already done.

Did you miss Young Engineer's, Gryph's and Martin's Hail China modifications (http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,9364.0.html)? Read the whole thread to arrive at its satisfying conclusion. No hospitalizations yet. :2thumbup:

This is one of those times where I'm happy I have a K75C with a rear drum brake.

Very cheap conversion, break down of the cost in OZ currency Chinese M/Cyl $13.33 pedal stop bolt $2.00 new boot $4.00 boot retaining clip $2.00 new hose $10.00 ( but $60.00 retail) M/Cyl retaining bolts and washers $2.00 Hose reducer 6mm to 8mm $5.00. hose clips $2.00. brake fluid $5.00 total cost $45.33. Next time it will cost me $13.33 plus $5.00 for the brake fluid. YE and Gryph had a slight problem bleeding I had very little problem with my Nescafe bleeder I just had to push the pedal down as I hit the trigger on the suction gun. Installed new M/Cyl March 12th the pedal is firmer than the original but not uncontrollable or in anyway a concern.. The only problem was a slight weep where the hose connected to the M/Cyl from the reservoir caused by the spring type clip which I replaced with a screw type. I ordered three more M/Cyl two for a mate and one for spare.
