Title: K75RT Fairing
Post by: MCRyder on May 12, 2017, 02:16:24 PM
I'm just starting the process of removing the RT fairing to do some maintenance.  Valve check/adjust, spark plugs, TB sync, TPS adjust, and replace air filter.  I'm planning to remove/move aside the left side fairing lower to do the first 4 things.  And I prefer just moving it aside, hoping that it's possible to move it around the BMW OEM crash bars to get the room do the work.  On the right side lower, is there a useful trick to replacing the air filter without removing the lower?  On my K75 Standard I could crack the opening enough to slide out the old filter and then slide in a new one without removing the upper air box.

Thanks.

On my K100LT it's no trouble at all to remove the OEM crash bars.  Just remove three nuts and it's off.

The time it takes to remove the engine protection bars and the lower fairing panels is less than the extra time it takes to work around the fairing.

Also, the there is a strong chance that having the lower panel hanging there will allow it to contact the exhaust while your are warming the bike up to do the throttle body balance.  The dumb f*ck who keeps 3 bikes in my garage put a nice burn on the left lower of his RT fairing because he didn't see it resting against the header until it started smoking.
